Canadianpond.ca Products Ltd. manufactures this proprietary self sinking aeration Bubble Tubing™ in Canada to improve aeration in both shallow and deep waters. Sewage lagoons, waste water treatment plants, earth ponds, reflection and architectural pools, de-icing in salt and fresh water are some applications for Bubble Tubing™. 3/4" Weighted diffuser-tubing is a self-sinking bubbler line for aeration, deicing or mixing in ponds, lakes and wastewater basins.
Bubble Tubing™ is a new Canadian-made self-sinking flexible fine-bubble diffuser tubing. Bubble Tubing™ can be used industrial applications including mining and aquaculture the unique tubing is also for aerating ponds, water-gardens, long narrow waterways, and wherever a bottom mounted diffusion assembly is not desired or appropriate. The 3/4" Bubble Tubing™ can be run in continuous lengths up to 400 feet depending on flow and pressure. The 3/4" tubing has a PVC Rod surrounding a 0.25" OD galvanized steel rope with a breaking strength of 7000 pounds allowing an installation at different depths in water without touching the bottom.
This self-sinking tubing has two rows of tiny holes 1/2" apart along the entire length of the tubing and when air from the compressor fills the tubing the holes open and release tiny air bubbles into the water. As these bubbles rise together they create a moving water column with a vacuum effect that pulls water from lower depths towards the surface. It does not kink and contains no lead or dangerous heavy metals.
The main function of the diffuser tubing is to aerate and create circulation and the tubing can be used as a replacement with traditional aeration diffuser systems like membrane discs and airstones. Bubble Tubing™ can be installed in large wastewater treatment basins and aquaculture aeration applications for shrimp. From a few hundred feet to several thousand feet using multiple blowers with bio-augmentation. De-icing of large dams & superstructures
Bubble Tubing™ installed at base of dam ensures dam deicing at all times. Single or multiple lengths of tubing fed by a large compressor can be installed at the foot of the dam face. Rising bubbles create upward flow of warmer waters and maintain massive open water preventing ice damage to dam. Inflatable dams can also be protected using a simple Bubble Tubing™ system. Dock deicing and the deicing of large boat slips is also a standard application. A low cost compressor on the dock or nearby feeds air to a length of Bubble Tubing™ and the rising boil of active bubbles bring warm water to the surface where it keeps ice from forming. Even a small diaphragm or piston compressor, which consume very little electricity, can produce enough air to create an active circulating movement under your dock due to the low operating pressure of our new air diffusion tubing.
Reflective pools and unique water features
Bubble Tubing™ can be used to create unique patterns in reflective pools or special projects which combine lighting and surface movements. Attaching the flexible tubing to grids or shapes can allow the creation of strong geometrical patterns, straight lines and unique details lettering or images using CAD. The tubing can be used to create logos on the waters surface or special messages during large exhibits or as special additions to monuments and parks.

Blast, sonar and noise dampening
Bubble Tubing™ can provide blast dampening during underwater detonation of explosives or percussive piling during construction. Using an air bubble curtain will inhibit sound transmission through water due to the reflection and absorption of the sound waves by the small bubbles. The rising curtain of tightly spaced bubbles act as a blast damper and can absorb the shock waves and other unwanted blast effects. Bubble Tubing™ can also be used around harbors and military installations as a sonar muffler or sonar dampening curtain to reduce sonar noises that can harm sea life. Killer whales in Puget Sound on the Pacfic Coast of North America are being harmed by sonar from the US Navy ships during military practice maneuvers, the underwater sonar can disorient killer whales and other aquatic mammals. Reducing underwater sound levels with a bubble curtain will help with protecting whales, dolphins and other migratory creatures from the harmful effects of underwater noises like construction and blast percussion. As stricter environmental guidelines come into play the tight-knit bubble wall created by the tubing can easily absorb sonar and other unwanted underwater noises. Bubble curtains can be effective in absorbing sonar or blast noise from underwater detonations. The bubble curtains will also create an underwater fence to prevent jellyfish, sharks, salmon, shrimp and other species from entering or crossing in to certain zones.

Aeration and circulation
The main function of the diffuser tubing is to aerate and create circulation and the tubing can be used as a replacement with traditional aeration diffuser systems like membrane discs and airstones. But why use a linear aeration featuring Bubble Tubing™? Instead of having bubbles concentrated in the 9" or 12" space of the diffuser disc you spread out the small air release holes down a linear line of 100 feet or more. The flexible tubing can be placed in large circles or soft curves to fit into hard to reach areas to provide aeration in more places at once, something a single disc simply cannot do! But linear aeration is not limited to shallow ponds and dugouts. Large lakes often use multiple lines of Bubble Tubing™ not to mention the traditional uses in water treatment plants and shrimp aeration projects where long lengths of air tubing are required to aerate large flat bottomed basins.
Bubble Tubing™ set in the bottom of a shallow pond will mix water with more efficacy because the tiny diffuser holes on the tubing, spaced 4 per inch, are spread out over a larger area than when using a single disc or discs. Running a single line or multiple lines of tubing allows for greater dispersion of bubbles throughout the pond and enables a larger area to be treated with beneficial circulation and oxygenation. Using Bubble Tubing™ is easier than discs or airstones because it is self sinking and flexible so there are no weights to attach, bases to fill, or plumbing parts to break. Simply uncoil it from the back of your boat without the need for weights or heavy bases full of gravel. Rising bubbles from the Bubble Tubing are gentler than the frothing splash of discs or airstones and because the Bubble Tubing™ can run in long lengths it can get quality aeration into vast areas.
Why Diffuser Discs & Airstones Don't Work in Shallow Ponds or Canals
Using traditional forms of diffuser discs in shallow ponds can be less efficient as the rising bubbles are so closely concentrated that there is little rising lifting action that can occur before they splash at the surface. The aeration is less effective and the surface of the water is in a constant state of aggressive agitation. At greater depths the disc or airstone type diffuser is highly effective but in shallow waters the resulting circulation is overly concentrated and does not positively impact the entire body of water to the extent of linear aeration using Bubble Tubing™, beyond creating waves and frothing water. Plus, many discs are often needed to effectively aerate shallow areas adding to expense and tubing runs. In shallow ponds, diffuser discs or multiple disc assemblies create minimal overall circulation because the bubbles are concentrated in a small area. Bubble Tubing™ changes all that!

The 3/4" Bubble tubing™ comes in rolls of 200 feet, 400' feet or custom lengths can be cut if required. Maximum length of a single line should be kept to 400 feet for uniformity of bubbles. Small orders ship via UPS or DHL and orders over 800 feet ship on a skid(s) by truck. 200 foot roll weights 190 pounds.
